Patrick O'Keefe participated as a judge in the Thurgood A. Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition which was sponsored by the Federal Bar Association. Each Spring, in conjunction with the FBA mid-year meeting in Washington D.C., teams from law schools around the country take part in the the Thurgood A. Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition. Final rounds are held in the Court of Military Appeals.
- Daniel Lund participated as a judge in the 2007 National Trial Competition Regional Qualifier hosted by LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The National Trial Competition was established in 1975 to encourage and strengthen students advocacy skills through quality competition and valuable interaction with members of the bench and bar. The program is designed to expose law students to the nature of trial practice and to serve as a supplement to their education. The event at LSU was one of fourteen Regional Competitions. The winners from the various regions participate in the National Final held in Texas.

Gordon Grant and Patrick O'Keefe were admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. The United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces exercises worldwide appellate jurisdiction over members of the armed forces on active duty and other persons subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Court is composed of five civilian judges appointed for 15-year terms by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. Cases on the Court’s docket address a broad range of legal issues, including constitutional law, criminal law, evidence, criminal procedure, ethics, administrative law, and national security law. Decisions by the Court are subject to direct review by the Supreme Court of the United States.
The Court was in special session in New Orleans on February 13, 2007 as guests of Loyola Law School through the Court's "Project Outreach" program. Oral argument was presented in the case of United States v. Isaac D. Roberson in the en banc courtroom of the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Brandi Schwartz, an associate in the Gulfport office, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers Division of the Mississippi Bar Association. She practices in the areas of general litigation and products liability defense. Brandi graduated, cum laude, from Millsaps College in 1993 and received her J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1996. She received mediation training from the Accord Institute and Southern Arbitration and Mediation in 1999 and from Harvard Law School’s Program of Instruction for Lawyers in 2001. In January 2006, she was selected as one of the mediators for the Mississippi Hurricane Mediation Program sponsored by the Mississippi Department of Insurance. Brandi is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Harrison County Bar Association, the Harrison County Young Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. She has worked as a volunteer for the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition and for Disaster Legal Services at the Disaster Recovery Centers following Hurricane Katrina. She also serves as a member of the Mississippi Young Lawyer’s Assistance Committee. John Y. Pearce, the managing partner of Montgomery, Barnett, was elected Chairman of the Board of Children's Hospital in New Orleans in April of 2006. Mr. Pearce has served on the board of this non-profit entity since the mid-1990's.

Terrel J. Broussard has been asked to serve on the New Orleans City Council's Hurricane Katrina Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee is to advise the City Council regarding the recovery of the city from the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina and to recommend solutions that would enhance emergency preparations of the city.

Montgomery, Barnett was featured, along with several other local businesses, in an article in the December 4, 2005 New Orleans Times-Picayune Money Section regarding New Orleans businesses that put expansion plans into action following Hurricane Katrina. Administrator, Malcolm Martin, was quoted in the article, explaining that the firm, in the three months following the storm, has grown from two locations to four, adding offices in Baton Rouge and Mandeville to complement the home office in New Orleans and the Gulfport location, which opened almost four years ago.
