A partner of Montgomery Barnett, John Person is engaged in general admiralty trial and appellate practice with special concentration in marine insurance issues, maritime liens, vessel arrests, hull and machinery claims, collision, stranding, cargo, salvage, general average, maritime products liability, maritime personal injury, vessel financing and documentation, U.S. Coast Guard regulation, and vessel Protection & Indemnity defense matters.

Mr. Person is a former oceanographic ship officer and a certified military diving master.

In addition to his undergraduate science degree and Juris Doctor law degree, Mr. Person attended post graduate law school earning an LL.M. Master of Laws degree in Admiralty from Tulane in 1983. He has been specializing in admiralty law as a member of Montgomery Barnett's Admiralty Department ever since.
