A partner of Montgomery Barnett, Jack Gooch is engaged in general admiralty trial and appellate practice with special concentration in cases involving cargo claims, hull and machinery, collisions, groundings, fires, explosions and marine insurance coverage issues. A member of the New Orleans Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Maritime Law Association of the United States (member of the Board of Directors 1999-2002), The Association of Average Adjusters of the United States, and the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. Mr. Gooch is also a member of the Permanent Advisory Board and Program and Planning Committee, Tulane Admiralty Law Institute. He is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts and the Louisiana Supreme Court; U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana; and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Born in 1935, Mr. Gooch is a New Orleans native who received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in 1957 and a Bachelor of Laws from Tulane University School of Law in 1960, the same year he joined Montgomery Barnett.
